Almost every conversation Fox Logic has with a new Pakistani client starts the same way: “What does a website cost in Pakistan in 2026?” The honest answer — the one most agencies refuse to give — is “it depends, but here are the real ranges.” This article walks through those ranges, what drives them, and where the hidden costs live.
Whether you’re a startup founder in Karachi, an SME owner in Lahore, or a global business hiring Pakistani talent for global delivery, this is the breakdown you should have before you sign any proposal.
Why “cheap” in Pakistan is rarely actually cheap
It’s tempting. A freelancer offers PKR 25,000 for a five-page site, “launched in three days.” You think you’re saving money. Then six weeks in, the site won’t load on mobile, the contact form silently breaks, the Google integration was never set up, and the developer stops replying to WhatsApp.
The actual cost of that “cheap” site usually ends up between PKR 250,000 and PKR 500,000 once you pay a second team to fix or rebuild it — plus the lost months of revenue while the broken version was live. We’ve seen this pattern hundreds of times.
Real cost transparency is the single best signal of a serious agency. If a vendor can’t explain what your money is buying, they don’t actually know either.
The five real cost drivers
Every website project in Pakistan is priced on the same five variables. Understanding them lets you read any quote in two minutes.
- Platform. WordPress, Shopify, custom PHP/Node, headless — each has different baseline labor.
- Number and complexity of pages. A 5-page brochure site is not a 25-page service catalog with a knowledge base.
- Custom design vs. theme. A bespoke design system takes weeks of senior labor; a tuned theme takes days.
- Integrations. CRM, payment gateways, ERPs, custom APIs — each adds development and QA time.
- Performance, SEO, AI readiness. Done right, this is 15–25% of the total. Done wrong, it’s “free” and you pay later.
WordPress development costs in Pakistan
WordPress is still Pakistan’s most popular platform for content sites, blogs, and small-to-medium business websites. Honest 2026 ranges:
Basic business site (5–8 pages, theme-based, light customization): PKR 250,000–500,000. This includes design tweaks, on-page SEO, contact form, basic schema, and hosting setup. You pay another PKR 8,000–25,000 per year for hosting.
Mid-tier (10–20 pages, custom design system, CRM integration, blog with editor governance): PKR 600,000–1,500,000. Add AI readiness, FAQ schema, structured data, and accessibility, and you’re in the upper part of that range.
Premium (custom blocks, multi-language, multi-region, headless WordPress): PKR 1,500,000–4,000,000+. Most international clients live here.

Shopify development costs in Pakistan
Shopify is the dominant platform for Pakistani ecommerce going global, and increasingly the default for local DTC brands too.
Starter store (template, basic customization, payment setup): PKR 200,000–450,000. Reasonable for a launch but expect to invest more once you start running paid traffic.
Growth store (custom theme sections, app architecture, conversion optimization, structured data, mobile performance): PKR 600,000–1,800,000. This is where most serious Pakistani brands targeting Dubai, the GCC, or the USA should aim.
Shopify Plus (custom checkout extensions, B2B portals, multi-region): PKR 2,000,000–6,000,000+. Reserved for established brands with budget and scale.

Custom development: where the price math really changes
Custom platforms (PHP, Laravel, Node, Python) are priced by hours of senior engineering, not page count. In Pakistan, senior engineer rates in 2026 typically run PKR 4,000–9,000 per hour for serious agencies, and USD 35–80 per hour for international-tier work.
Reasonable scope ranges:
- Internal tool or dashboard: 80–200 hours, so PKR 400,000–1,800,000.
- Custom marketplace or SaaS MVP: 250–600 hours, so PKR 1,250,000–5,400,000.
- Complex enterprise platform: 600–2,000+ hours, so PKR 3,000,000+.
Custom builds aren’t always the right call. We sometimes talk clients out of them in favor of WordPress or Shopify when the use-case fits. Custom development at Fox Logic.
Hidden costs nobody puts on the proposal
Every proposal you receive should be cross-checked against this hidden-cost list. If it’s missing, your real total is higher than quoted.
- Hosting. A premium-grade host (managed WordPress, Shopify, Cloudways, Kinsta) is PKR 8,000–35,000+ per year. Cheap hosting kills SEO; budget for a real provider.
- Domain and SSL. PKR 1,500–4,000 per year. Some agencies inflate this 5x; check market rates yourself.
- Stock images and licenses. If you’re not creating original photography, premium stock is PKR 5,000–25,000 per project.
- Premium plugins and themes. Often PKR 15,000–80,000 in licenses spread across the build.
- Content writing. Often quoted separately. A serious 8-page site is PKR 30,000–80,000 in copy if you don’t write it yourself.
- SEO and AI readiness. If not in the build, expect PKR 30,000–150,000 to add it later. Building it in is cheaper.
- Maintenance. Ongoing care is PKR 10,000–50,000+ per month depending on scope. Skipping this for a year is the leading cause of broken Pakistani websites.
How to compare three quotes that all look reasonable
The trick is to compare quotes on outputs, not just price. Side-by-side checklist:
- Pages and templates included — numbered, not vague.
- Custom design vs. theme.
- Schema, FAQ, AI optimization — included or extra?
- Mobile performance target — specific Lighthouse / Core Web Vitals numbers.
- Number of revision rounds before launch.
- Post-launch warranty — days of free fixes.
- Hosting and DNS handover — in your accounts or theirs?
- Code ownership clause — clearly assigned to you in writing.
- Maintenance options offered after launch.
- Senior engineer named on the proposal.
Apply this list and prices stop being mysterious. The cheapest quote is almost always missing items 3, 6, 7, and 10. Sometimes all of them.
Currency, taxes, and international billing
Pakistani businesses serving Pakistani clients need PKR invoices with proper FBR-compliant tax. Pakistani agencies serving international clients usually invoice in USD with W-8BEN or equivalent forms. If you’re paying for a global startup or are based in Dubai or the USA yourself, ask the agency upfront how they handle:
- Currency of invoice.
- VAT, GST, or sales tax documentation.
- Wire fees vs. PayPal vs. Wise.
- IP transfer language and timing.
A serious partner will have answers ready. We invoice clients in PKR, USD, AED, or SAR; we issue both Pakistani and international tax documentation; and we transfer IP cleanly on milestone completion.
What you should NOT pay extra for
Pakistani agencies sometimes inflate proposals with line items that are either trivially cheap or already standard. Don’t pay extra for any of these in 2026:
- “Mobile responsiveness.” Every modern theme is responsive. This is not a paid upgrade.
- “SEO optimization” as a separate item. Sitemap, robots, basic schema, and meta tags are baseline. Real SEO work is a different conversation.
- “SSL certificate setup.” Free via Let’s Encrypt or included in any decent host.
- “Speed optimization” as an upsell. Performance is a build-time decision, not an afterthought to charge for.
- “Google Analytics setup.” Five minutes of work; not a billable line.
- “Backup setup.” Trivial with the right plugin or host. Should be standard.
- “Stock images” padded to PKR 25,000+. Real licenses are USD 10–80 per image; markup beyond that is gouging.
- “Domain registration” charged at 5x market rate. Verify the registrar’s public price first.
A serious quote will either include these as standard or tell you exactly why a specific item is non-trivial in your case. Vague upsells are usually padding.
